PearlGraph

About PearlGraph

Putting Uganda tourism into the global conversation.

PearlGraph is the intelligence layer for Destination Uganda, developed by Oree Studios Africa in Kampala. We connect tourism, cultural and logistics information to AI assistants so travellers can discover authentic experiences and plan connected journeys with traceable information, not best guesses.

Mission

To build, deploy and maintain open, subscription-free digital public infrastructure that gives AI systems access to source-backed Ugandan tourism, cultural and logistics information, while improving the international visibility of destinations and verified organisations across the country.

Vision

To establish Uganda as a leading African destination for AI-grounded travel discovery, where connected agents and search-grounded models direct travellers to authentic experiences using traceable information, clear institutional routes and open standards.

Why this matters

From search to conversation

Travel discovery now happens in conversations as well as search results. Uganda’s destinations need information that connected AI assistants can understand, retrieve and cite.

Visibility without gatekeeping

Open discovery helps destinations, cultural institutions and verified organisations reach travellers without paying for a place in the index. No subscriptions, paid ranking or commissions.

Local intelligence, global reach

Wildlife, heritage, adventure and community experiences deserve the same visibility. Local context and realistic logistics make a destination understandable, not just discoverable.

Ugandan stewardship

Our ambition is open, locally stewarded digital public infrastructure: Uganda’s destination knowledge informing global language models through transparent standards.

What the intelligence connects

Places and experiences

Attractions, parks, reserves, cultural and heritage sites, adventure trails and community experiences, with coordinates, hours and activity durations.

Connected journeys

Road distances and drive times, accommodation linked to districts and nearby attractions, plus airstrips, flight references and water connections.

Rules and costs

Official entry tariffs, permit capacity, access requirements, seasonal guidance and institutional booking routes.

Visitor context

Local and foreign traveller essentials, accommodation and organisational listings, with cultural and practical context for informed decisions.

From a question to a grounded journey

  1. A traveller asks. Their AI assistant turns interests, starting point and travel month into a request.
  2. PearlGraph connects the records. One MCP tool, or the REST API, returns relevant destinations, fees, accommodation, rules and transport references.
  3. The journey is checked. Road drive time comes first, then opening hours, fixed activity start times and activity duration within daylight. Feasibility depends on the journey, not a blanket ban on combining regions.
  4. The traveller gets traceable guidance. Source references and institutional booking routes accompany the information.

Where trust comes from

Reference records draw on institutional sources including the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). Source documents, publication dates and review status preserve provenance.

The wider PearlGraph programme describes three layers of verification: institutional sourcing, regional field checks and reviewed public corrections. A nationwide field-verification network and dedicated corrections platform are goals, not services claimed as operational here. Today, corrections can be sent through our support channel with the record and supporting source.

Available here. Building further.

This site provides an open MCP connection, REST API and plain-text data references. The service covers attractions, fees, road routing, itinerary checks, stays, districts, traveller essentials, seasons, permit rules and transport. The project owner manually reviewed the existing dataset on 31 October 2026. Records retain source dates and tariff validity periods.

The original PearlGraph vision also describes knowledge-graph infrastructure, meaning-based search with vector embeddings, richer cultural context, crawlable destination records and reviewed change notes. Those wider capabilities remain development ambitions and are not all implemented in this service.

Access here is free and open, with no paid placement. The service is offered under Apache-2.0. Open MCP and documented HTTP interfaces let compatible AI applications use the same destination intelligence.

Help shape Uganda’s destination intelligence

Operators, guides, cultural institutions and visitors can help improve the index by sharing official references and corrections. Supporting the wider mission advances engineering and national data operations, helping Uganda’s experiences reach travellers without local organisations paying for visibility.
